Starlito and Ryan Hemsworth – Can’t Get Over You

After releasing his acclaimed “Still Awake EP” this year, Ryan Hemsworth has been busy remixing the likes of A$AP Rocky, Lana Del Rey, Outkast and even the Backstreet Boys. More recently, he has teamed up with the Nashville rapper Starlito to produce “Can’t Get Over You”, a story about heartbreak told from the rare perspective of a guy who firmly places the blame on himself.

This collaboration is one that has happened at the right time. Starlito likens his beat selection process to “looking for something that kind of scares me away – a thought pattern, a feeling, an emotion”. Hemsworth, an eclectic producer with a variety of sounds in his arsenal, heeds the call and adopts a “Trap” beat to house Starlito’s lyrics of extreme feelings. “Can’t Get Over You” is a private song made by two men in a solitary room – a mic and a beat. The song is not saturated masculinity, it is bringing to us a sense of humility that is unknown to many of us, a sense of honesty and emotional outpour that may seem unjustified at times, but nevertheless, needed.
