For a chance to win some tickets simply follow us on twitter @thepurplebay and @purplearti

Here at thepurplebay we are always on the lookout for events worth going to and we have a treat in store for all you D&B and bass craving ravers. If you are around the London area this weekend you simply cannot miss the rare appearance of the godfather of drum and bass that is LTJ Bukem tearing up the enhanced sound system on the soundcrash mainstage at The Forum. Supported by the renowned SP:MC, who’s high energy bars have pumped the sets of artists from the Exit and Shogun Audio labels, plus MC’ing for Hospital and Renegade Records.

If there isn’t enough talent headlining this event already, we are also looking forward to live sets from Red Snapper and Hidden Orchestra. Red Snapper are an acid jazz band, founded in 1993 , first signed to Warp Records for their debut album, Prince Blimey (1996).  After releasing a few more recognised albums, the band split in 2001, later reforming in 2007 to take back the centre stage, with a performance at the Glade Stage at Glastonbury in 2009. Expect to hear a variety of eclectic tracks from their newest album ‘Key’. Hidden Orchestra are an electronic jazz band that have a proven track record of live performance excellence. Influenced by elements of hip-hop and reggae, they were selected by Radio Scotland as the A-Z greatest Scottish jazz artists of all time. They have toured all over europe and will undoubtedly perform a spine-tingling, energy infused live set.

Soundcrash is well renowned for their D’n’B nights, with their previous sellout event on the 4th May, which featured Roni Size + DJ Kentaro.

Soundcrashmusic.com: “Emerging out of the late 80’s as a DJ, LTJ Bukem discovered his passion for drum and bass when exploring the realms of jazz fusion. So it’s natural that when Bukem’s career as a DJ progressed in the early 90‘s and he found himself delving in to the studio, it was these frantic breakbeats in tandem with the melodic, yet almost awry basslines of jazz instrumentation that informed Bukem’s creations, developing a progressive and textured sound equal parts anthemic and tranquil. The album was titled ‘Logical Progression’ and marked Bukem as an innovator, a tag that has stuck through his work on his own esteemed Good Looking Records (http://www.goodlooking.org/) imprint, and still bears strong today as Bukem continues to DJ extensively across the globe under his ‘Progression Session’ banner.”
