Eats Everything Interview (20/01/2012)

So Eats Everything was kind enough to give me an interview whilst Claude Von Stroke was performing, both of whom were booked in at Dollop vs Zleep at Stealth on the 20/01/12. On the night itself, I was expecting a very housey and not necessarily bassy night at Stealth, but I got alot more than what I could have hoped for. Now I’m going to have to admit I dont follow Claude or Eats as religiously as I do other artists, but the set’s these two came out with definitely showed me that there’s all sorts of music out there. It also showed me that the Ipod Dock I’ve been using ever since my monitors broke on me are shit!

This event was definitely one of the best nights I have been to, and ever since I have been paying more attention to House music and Eats Everything in particular. I also do not want to take anything away from any of the other DJ’s playing on the night, as I did enjoy a few of the sets downstairs, so respect is also due to Lone and the Zleep and Dollop DJs.

@Puprlearti: So how would you describe your music?

@EATS_EVERYTHING : Errrrm, a mixture of bass music and house. It’s kinda sometimes bass and sometimes house, I make all kinds of music really. It’s hard to describe.

@Purplearti: So what’s your thoughts on going commercial, and commercial music in general?

@EATS_EVERYTHING: Well, I’ve been offered to remix quite big Pop bands, but I would still make the remixes underground, but I would never make Eats Everything something pop.  At the end of the day it’s easy money but.. (*shakes head*).

@Purplearti: This is a grime blog so would you like to work with any artists in Funky House, Dubstep, Grime?

@EATS_EVERYTHING: Well I know Redlight well and I’d like to work with Redlight at some point. I’ve also just done a remix with Javeon Mccarthy, (gets interrupted by Club Worker). Yeah I love the instrumental side of Grime, but some of the rhyming’s abit too full on for me. And yeah, I like Dubstep that aint like Skrillexy Brostep shit, I like the dark stuff.

@Purplearti: So I first heard of you on from the Entrance Song, but for people out there who haven’t heard you before, what’s a track you would recommend they listen to, as a song which defines you?

@EATS_EVERYTHING: I’d probably say Entrance Song, that’s the biggest record ive made, and it’s fucking hard to make one like that. Theres a few records where ive done really well, but I’d have to say Entrance Song is the one.

@Purplearti: So last question, just tell us about a few dubs that are coming out soon.

@EATS_EVERYTHING: I’ve got a track with Javeon McCarthy coming out, that’s coming out in a couple of weeks’ time, that’s pretty bassy. I’ve just done a remix with Shy Fx’s label Digital Soundboy, so yeah I’ve got a few thing’s coming out at the end of Feb.
